Flu activity increased during last week of December 2013

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the number of influenza cases rose during the last week of December 2013 across the country, with 26.7% of tested cases coming back positive for influenza. Arizona was only one of three states with local influenza activity. By Dec. 28, nearly 600 people in Arizona had been confirmed to have influenza, with 167 cases being reported in the last week of December alone, according to the Arizona Department of Health Services (AZDHS).
